James Michael Meadows is a dynamic and innovative singer-songwriter from Columbus, Ohio. Recognized as one of Tuned Up’s “60 Ohio Bands to Watch” in 2020, James has built a reputation for his authentic artistry, captivating storytelling, and heartfelt performances.

His debut solo EP, Hot Air Balloon (2019), marked a creative breakthrough. The project paired music with a full-length comic book, crafted in collaboration with acclaimed comic book artist Patrick Lay. This unique fusion of art and sound established James as a visionary talent and secured his place on Tuned Up’s prestigious list.

Over the years, James has expanded his repertoire with a full-length album, two EPs, and three visually compelling music videos under various projects, demonstrating his versatility as both a musician and storyteller. He has graced stages at festivals across the country, including Audiofeed Festival in Champaign, Illinois, and an unofficial showcase at SXSW in Austin, Texas, earning accolades for his engaging live performances.

In August 2023, James released his single, Just Waking Up, a track that quickly gained traction. The single was featured in a WUPIt UP showcase in Chicago and named one of Tuned Up’s “Top 5 Ohio Songs I Can’t Stop Listening To.” With over 20,000 streams and growing popularity in Europe, the song has solidified James’ presence on the global stage.

James continued to elevate his career with notable achievements spanning 2024–2026. In 2024, he was selected for Music Columbus’ Unheard Showcase and chosen to participate in the nonprofit Healing and Harmonies project. As part of that program, he performed at New York City’s legendary 54 Below in the Beautiful City cabaret alongside artists from across the country. Representing Ohio as the sole participant selected from the state, James performed in support of artist mental health initiatives, helping raise funds for Doctors Without Borders and The Trevor Project. His work on this project was supported by a grant from the Greater Columbus Arts Council, further underscoring his impact on the local and national arts community.

In 2025, James received an additional Greater Columbus Arts Council grant to return to the studio. He completed new recordings throughout the year and is set to release a new single in Spring 2026, continuing to expand his body of work and artistic reach.
